About Psychotherapist Lisa Schnall
I know there is this funny rumor going around that psychotherapists are all happy and have perfect, trouble-free lives. I think the truth should be known -- many of us got into this work because we were already on our own personal journeys to improving our lives, our relationships and finding happiness -- so you are not at all alone. I am glad you are considering this journey.
My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative -- I know that the therapeutic relationship is an important part of the treatment. I don’t believe in labeling, judging or blaming. Many of us experienced enough of that in our childhoods.
I don’t limit my practice to one group because I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families. The teenagers and adolescents seem to keep coming back because they know they can trust me to be supportive yet honest and direct with them and I am an adult who admits to having been a teenager "with issues" as well.
My philosophy is an eclectic mix of psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral schools of thought. It is tailored to you in many ways.
I think the best way for you to get to know my approach is to call me. I know you can’t decide in one session whether or not you think we are a good fit so I always suggest we met a few times and then you can decide if you want to continue. I am happy to offer a free telephone consult.
